A short, flat cycling loop from the Market Square via St Kinga’s Bridge, the Bobrowisko and the Stawy. Good for a first day on the bike in Stary Sącz, children included.

You set off from the Market Square, beneath the old lime trees, and head for the rivers. Stary Sącz has always lived by the water, and at its boundaries the Poprad flows into the Dunajec. The first stop is St Kinga’s Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge built in 2006–2008 and named after the town’s patron saint, as if the duchess were still watching over the crossing.

The route then leads to the Bobrowisko. This is a former gravel pit that nature has taken back from man. Here you must get out of the saddle, as cycling on the boardwalks is not allowed. But it is worth walking at least a little way among the marshes and looking into a hide. A few minutes further on lie the Stawy, with a beach, a marina and places to eat. In summer it is a good spot for a swim and a rest.

The way back leads into town again. The whole loop is almost flat, so most of the time goes on stops. In the very centre, where it can get crowded, it is better to walk your bike.
