Stawy – bathing area and recreation grounds

A beach, boats and a water park where two rivers meet

A former gravel pit flooded with clean water is now the town’s summer beach. Nearby are a rope park and the Bobrowisko.

Once upon a time gravel was dug here. When clean water was let into the pit, ponds formed, and people walked, cycled and fished for pike, carp, catfish and trout beside them. Today the Stawy (“Ponds”) lie close to where the Poprad flows into the Dunajec, with a view of the Beskids.

The grounds have two parts. The “Stawy” Water Park has a sandy beach with jetties, a marina, pedalos, boats and kayaks for hire, and WOPR lifeguard towers. There are also a volleyball court, a playground and food outlets. The REMARLAND zone, opened in 2023, has three water slides, a water playground for children, a pool, a jacuzzi, a climbing wall and a tennis court.

Right next door, on ul. Wielki Wygon, is the Lemur Park rope park, with treetop courses for children and adults. A few minutes’ walk to the north the Bobrowisko begins. After a round of sightseeing, it is a good place to slow down.
