An outing from town along the Poprad valley to Barcice and then uphill to the spiral viewing platform in Wola Krogulecka. The first part is easy riding; a solid climb waits at the end.
From the Market Square you ride south, towards Barcice. The first part of the way follows the Poprad valley and is almost flat, so you can warm up and look at the hills, which grow with every kilometre.
Beyond Barcice the real test begins. The road climbs Dzielnica hill, and the ascent is concentrated in the last part of the route. Those without much practice need not be ashamed to push their bike. At the top stands the Ślimak (“Snail”), a spiral-shaped viewing platform that is easy to remember.
From the top a panorama opens out over the Radziejowa Range, the Sącz Basin, the Gorce and the Beskid Wyspowy. It is loveliest at sunrise and sunset, when soft light fills the valleys. By the platform there are a roofed fireplace and toilets. The return by the same road is mostly downhill, so you come back quickly – but carefully.
Along the way
- Market Square Nearly a hectare of cobbles beneath old lime trees
- The “Snail” at Wola Krogulecka A spiral platform with a view over half the Beskids
