Miejska Góra

A wooded hill with a cholera cemetery and a ski jump

This wooded hill right next to town hides forest paths and quiet places of memory, along with modern attractions: the Forest Pier and the Orbisfera.

Miejska Góra rises to 420 m above sea level. The wooded area covers about 113 ha and lies in the buffer zone of the Poprad Landscape Park. People once searched here for the castellans’ stronghold, but in vain. The woods have kept a different memento instead: a cholera cemetery from 1831, when the epidemic struck the area, and a shrine from 1931.

Older residents remember that a ski jump operated here in 1940–1965. Today, where the old wooden jump stood, there is a shelter whose shape recalls the towers of the ski jump. Forest tracks run among the trees, used for walking, running and cycling. Since 2021 the Forest Pier has been here, and since 2026 the interactive Orbisfera.

People come to Miejska Góra for greenery, peace and views over the Sącz Basin. Bring comfortable shoes and leave yourself time. It is best to let the forest tracks lead you.
