A section of the cycle route running from Zakopane all the way to Wietrzychowice. In the Stary Sącz commune it runs flat along the Dunajec valley, past the Bobrowisko and where the Poprad flows into the Dunajec.

VeloDunajec begins in Zakopane and reached Stary Sącz in 2021. From there it runs on down the Dunajec towards Wietrzychowice. The route enters the Stary Sącz commune from the west, from the Łącko side, and leads along the Dunajec towards the town.

The finest stretch is the one where the two rivers meet. Here the Poprad flows into the Dunajec, and for centuries crossing the water was a matter of life for the town. Today St Kinga’s Bridge spans the Poprad – a cable-stayed bridge 328.8 m long, named after the town’s patron saint. According to the commune, one section of VeloDunajec runs around the Bobrowisko Nature Enclave. It is worth getting off your bike here and walking the boardwalks on foot.

The terrain is almost completely flat, so the ride suits families and less experienced cyclists. On the map the route consists of two sections, because that is how it is recorded in OpenStreetMap. On the ground, signs show the way.

  2. Bobrowisko A former gravel pit that nature took back
