A mountain trail from Barcice railway station via the Ślimak platform and the Głęboki Jar gorge to Makowica, as far as the trail junction below its summit. Views of the Poprad valley accompany you almost from the start.
The trail begins at the station in Barcice and soon starts to climb, via Wdżary towards Wola Krogulecka. After about an hour’s walk you reach the Ślimak, the spiral viewing platform on Dzielnica hill. It is a good place for a first rest and a look at the Poprad valley and the Radziejowa Range.
From here it becomes more and more mountainous. The trail leads through the picturesque Głęboki Jar (“Deep Ravine”), where layers of Carpathian flysch emerge from the ground, and climbs via Podmakowica towards the summit. Makowica (948 m above sea level) has rock outcrops on its top, and its slopes hide caves, among them “Sucha Szczelina”, “Lisia Jama” and “Jama Brudasów”.
Beyond the summit the trail drops a little to the Rozdroże pod Makowicą junction, where it meets the red and green trails. From here you can return the same way or, map in hand, carry on deeper into the Beskid Sądecki.
